Seagreen 1A Plans Progress with PAN and PAC Submission

We have lodged a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to East Lothian Council to start a formal consultation process on our onshore elements of the Seagreen 1A project before a possible future planning application is submitted in 2021. At the same time, we have also lodged a Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Proposal to Marine Scotland to start a formal consultation process on our offshore elements of the project. Although the proposed onshore and offshore infrastructure will be subject to separate consent applications, we are running the consultations side-by-side as it will be beneficial in allowing members of the public and other interested parties to view the Seagreen 1A proposals in full and therefore better understand the project as a whole.

The ‘Seagreen 1A’ project is the infrastructure required to connect 36 offshore turbines to the grid at the Cockenzie substation.  The site is located in the Energy Zone of the former Cockenzie power station site and we are seeking to site the building next to the existing ScottishPower building.

We will follow Scottish Government and industry advice in relation to Covid-19 regarding public consultation and all EIA work.  We appreciate that traditional meetings are not possible at this time and that Covid-19 and the health emergency are the priority for elected and community representatives.

We understand that there will be interest in relation to the proposals from local residents - we will hold an online public exhibition and will upload exhibition material on this website from Monday 11th January 2021.

We will also hold an interactive Q&A session on Monday 18th January 2021 between 12:00 – 14.30hrs and 18.00 – 20.30hrs, where members of the Project Team will be online and available to answer any questions from interested residents and community groups.
